10/23/2016 Houses Decorated to Reflect our DreamsAs a part of our Homes thematic study we are learning our addresses. For this project we read The Big Orange Splot. We were inspired to create houses to reflect our dream just as the main character, Mr. Plumbean did in the book. First, we made tactile numbers for the house number portion of our addresses. Next, we had a blast adding creative details to represent things that we value. Last, we shared our houses.
10/23/2016 Silly Sock Day10/22/2016 B-M-EThis is a simple retell comprehension strategy. Students state one sentence to discuss what happened in the Beginning, Middle and End of a text. In class, we have discuss the importance of monitoring for understanding as we read by paying close attention to the pictures as well as the words. During Nightly Reading, focus on comprehension you can start a meaningful discussion with the B-M-E strategy.

10/22/2016 MakerSpace Free ChoiceThe KB Kind Friends reenacted the story of The Three Little Pigs in the dramatic play area while others created prompts in the art station. The children had a blast playing together in dress up clothes.
10/22/2016 Guest ReaderThe KB Kind Friends enjoyed hear Audrey's mom share The Little House. As the children listened they emotionally connected with the Little House and began to empathize with her by sharing how they felt about all of the change happening around her. At the end of the story, a few friends shared their favorite parts of the book.
